Progress?

I definitely just heard her say, "Sorry, diapers.  I'm sorry.  We have to go to preschool."

Sorry to disappoint

As is her custom, when Rosie woke up this morning, she stood at the top of the steps bellowing, "Mooooooooommmy!"  Today her father was the first to arrive on the scene, and when Rosie saw him, she said, "Oh, it's you."

Parrot

Rosie wanted me to put batteries in the walkie talkies, and I told her we didn't have any (which may have been slight fabrication on my part, but she doesn't know this).

She said, "What am I gonna do with you?"

Duh

Rosie was wearing one of her new dresses, and Poppy told her, "That's a pretty dress, Rosie, where did you get it?"

Her answer: "On the hanger."

If it looks like a duck...

Bright and early this morning (well, not bright, because the sun was not up yet), I heard the stirrings of my children, so I got up and started making a bottle.  Rosie came to the gate at the top of the stairs and began a series of shrieks, so from the kitchen I called up to her, "Rosie, no shrieking."  Then she went into Zack's room and told him, "Zack, that sounds like Mommy!!!"

We've come so far...

My brother asked Rosie what she wanted to be when she grows up.  She didn't really understand, so I asked her if she might like to be a nurse like her aunt or a teacher like Mommy.  She said no.  My brother asked her if she would like to be a meteorologist like he is (because she definitely knows what that is, right?).

As if the answer were clearly obvious, Rosie told us, "No, I'm gonna be a princess."  I guess she won't be campaigning for women's rights anytime soon.

Not one to be left out

I was changing Zack's diaper while Rosie was in the other room.  I was making faces at him, and he was laughing up a storm.  Rosie heard us laughing together, so she came into the room and asked, "What's so funny in here?"
